Residents of Baltimore County, Maryland are beginning to receive their property tax assessment documents and SHOCKER! The rates have risen again. That’s right, the bullies in Towson, Maryland are demanding more of your lunch money and if you don’t pay up, they’re going to sell your house!
Did any member of the Baltimore County Council write “I pledge to raise your property taxes” on your campaign literature? Very doubtful…but they did it anyway. This is a major problem for elderly and disabled residents, who are living on fixed incomes.
Sure, they’ll try to pass the buck (as government bureaucrats tend to do) and claim that “we aren’t the ones raising the rates! It’s the market! THE MARKET!!!!” Well I say, they’re full of shit. If you’re more offended by my use of that word in a news opinion piece, then you are part of the problem.
Oh and when you go to pay your property tax extortion? If you pay with a credit or debit card, a 2.39% “convenience fee” is assessed on the already absurd amount. HOW CONVENIENT OF THEM! At least the electronic check fee is only about $1.
Disgusting! This is absolutely sickening, abhorrent behavior from a local government who are supposed to be serving/working for us! People are out here struggling to pay for basic needs, because the federal government can’t help itself and has the power to print more money. I bet if an elected member of Congress from Maryland had the guts to speak to me, they wouldn’t be able to define what the phrase fiscal responsibility means.
I’ll never forget when the County Council gave themselves and the County Executive a pay raise back in the year 2022 after decimating local businesses. It must be nice to approve your own salary and pension increase! MUST BE REAL NICE! Now, let’s give We the People the power to lower their property tax assessments via a ballot question in 2026!
